Alexa ranking and PageRank

Alright, so you got a website up or maybe even a simple blog like this one.

Then the next question is, how effective is it? How do I track whether anyone's visiting my site? Well, a simple way that was mentioned in my earlier blog is to include a little code from statcounter.com in your template and you can check your stats for free.

Then again, say you are visiting some other website. How do you know if it's popular and that it has useful information?

One way is to check out it's alexa ranking. You can check it out at alexa.com
For example, click on 'Traffic Rankings' and then key in a website that you want to check out on, for example if you key in like yahoo.com, you'll find that it is Ranked 1, (btw google is 2nd).

Also, if you are using Mozilla Firefox, this is a great nifty tool. You actually need not have to go to Alexa.com or install it's toolbar to know the alexa ranking of the website you visit. Instead, it will automatically display the rankings of any site you surf plus it tells you PageRank too!

Quite cool, check it out here www.quirk.biz/searchstatus (reminder, it's only for mozilla firefox browsers)

Overture for research

We had a great mastermind group last Friday. I was expecting only less than 10 people but altogether we had 16 people show up so it was a great start. Basically everyone shared their background and what they hope to achieve. An interesting trend, most are engineers!

So here's a tip if you are looking for people interested in Internet Marketing in Singapore. Look for engineers! :)

Back to the main topic, about overture. For those who are new to internet marketing newbie, you are probably wondering what should I sell? What kind of product will have market on the internet?

That's why it's always good to do some market research to find out what people are searching on the internet. Overture is a great tool to do your research because it not only shows the number of people searching for the term, it also gives other related keywords that others are searching. For example if you key in 'Singapore', you'll also get to see how many people have searched for 'Singapore Airlines', 'Singapore hotel' and even 'Singapore Pool'! (lots of gamblers on the net!). Try it out at this site inventory.overture.com

The funny thing is this, I tell people to go to oveture site, I sometimes get questions

"I went to the site but anything I key in gives me no results, why is that so?"

Gee, I don't know why is that so because I'm doing the same keyword search and I get lots of results. What's wrong?

That's the best thing with Masterminding because I found out the answer from Alex who had the exact same problem and found the 'bug', and it's quite dumb! :)

Somehow someone must have tampered with domain names but if you type WWW.inventory.overture.com with the 'WWW' in front, you are going to get a page that looks exactly as inventory.overture.com but anything you key in will not get any results at all. How strange! So if you have been facing this problem (I know some internet marketing gurus won't bother mentioning this because it's so basic and since I'm not a guru, I like to point out this little silly things!) the solution is darn simple. Leave out the 'www', not every website on the internet needs to have the 'www'

Well, that's sharing for today. I'm exploring some autoresponder like the one you get on the banner on top, 1shoppingcart.com. This one has been recommended by Stephen Pierce. BTW, for those who went for World Internet Summit and keep hearing 'Autopilotriches.com', well what's the difference? It's the same! Just that autopilotriches is a 'private label' of the same site!

Well, have fun cracking the Internet Wealth Code!
